Public works staff focus on relationship management

Lyn Pearson with Graham Scott
Construction Innovations Education Officer Lyn Pearson with Relationship Management course presenter Graham Scott
Queensland Department of Public Works staff attended the third of Construction Innovations highly regarded two-day Relationship Management workshops in Brisbane last month.

The workshop was developed as an outcome of a three year Construction Innovation research project, based on the recognition by industry (both private and public sectors) that relationship management is a key tenet of successful project management and should be included in an organisations analysis of risk management strategies.

Public Works participants rated the workshop as excellent and well presented. Other feedback received from Public Works staff included praise for the course presenter relationship management and project recovery expert Graham Scott and the highly relevant examples used in the course materials.

The workshop has attracted strong interest amongst industry after being trialled by John Holland Group and the Queensland Department of Main Roads. Two major industry organisations are looking at major roll-outs of the course within their organisations and interest from groups outside the construction industryare being pursued.
