In 2008, our long-term Chair and CIB* board member John McCarthy and  Dr Greg Foliente (CSIRO) were the main organisers of the World SB08 conference held in September in Melbourne. It was one of the biggest and most successful CIB-related conferences in recent history.

 

Their efforts have been recognised by the CIB Programme Committee through their annual commendations for extraordinary performance in the CIB Programme of Activities.

 

In January John McCarthy also received an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in the General Division in recognition of his service to the property and construction industry in the Australia Day Honours List. Read the full story

 

 

* CIB (International Council for Research and Innovation in Building and Construction) was established in 1953. CIB is the acronym of the abbreviated French (former) name: "Conseil International du Bâtiment" (in English: International Council for Building).
